In the weeks leading up to this e-session, Martin had scoped out several places for their shoot and eventually selected Yaletown’s David Lam Park and surrounding areas. What a great choice — with a wide range of interesting textures and colors, it was the perfect location to backdrop this great couple!
With such a relaxing location, it was a perfect time and place to catch up and discuss their wedding plans while, at the same time, I was getting some great photos of them!
As the sun began to set, I got a beautiful shot of a couple in love…
Congrats, guys! Looking forward to your wedding in 2011!
Now I know you’ve all been anxiously awaiting this post after having a look at their wedding photo teaser. Well… Here it is! I’m excited to share these photos with you. They were taken in the Greater Toronto Area, with some taken in Downtown Toronto’s financial district. The very same place where all the G20 chaos was going on — Joy & Joy — good thing you guys got married before all this was going on!
Most of the day was wet and rainy, but that’s no problem for a Vancouver wedding photographer, even if the wedding is in Toronto!
Lucky for us, the rain held off for most of the shoot in the afternoon when we headed off to downtown Toronto!
We weren’t about to let some rain stop us! We had that situation covered with some matching umbrellas!
Joy & Jon — thanks for a allowing me to be a part of your day!
Joy and Jon are a such a cute couple that I had the pleasure of shooting at the Lynde Shores Conservation Area at Whitby, Ontario. I, of course, was in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA, to the locals) to shoot their wedding the very next day — yes, the next day! As you will see, they don’t look the least bit stressed!
They were so great to work with, and their relaxed demeanor made for some great photos. Here are a few that I want to share with you all:
I’ll leave you with this final set of images that I’ll call “stretching exercises” for the full day of smiling that happened the next day
Hello, everyone… I had to wait until I got all the way to Vancouver to get a closer look at my photos… I just couldn’t wait to have a look. I know you want a peek too so I’m sharing just this one with you. As for the rest… you’ll just have to wait just a bit longer!
During my trip out to Toronto for a wedding, I had a full day of shooting with Friday being a double-header shoot because I also had the opportunity to get in a portrait session with the Maid of Honor, Amanda and her beau, Matt. So, we headed off to Unionville, a quaint, small town in the midst of the sprawling metropolis of Toronto. I consider this town to be one of Ontario’s best-kept secrets, and is particularly rich in things to shoot, with all the color and architecture of a time gone by. Perfect for a good looking couple like this!
For some reason, this town reminded me of a scene from Forrest Gump. You know, the scene where Forrest says, “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” So, naturally, I just had to recreate it! Here’s my take on it:
Now that I got my Gump-inspired shot out of the way, we were off to eat some candy, slushies, ice cream, and do some more photos! I hope you enjoy the photos as much as we had fun taking them!
I recently had the opportunity to shoot Wes Hutchens, Pastor of Lions Gate Baptist Church in North Vancouver. One fine morning, we met up at Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver and had a good time just getting to know them.
What a weekend its been! My wife and I got a lot less sleep, but a lot more excitement when our little bundle of joy arrived early early morning this past Friday. What an incredible experience it is to be able to witness the birth of a little one. Although this is my third child, it was as special as it was with the other two — it never gets old! As I type this, my new baby is sleeping in my arm… What a heartwarming feeling! Of course, despite suffering from lack of sleep, I managed to pull off a quick shoot for my new girl!
Without any further ado, I would like to introduce to you the newest member of my family, Kate Charity Cruz, born 4:30am on Friday, May 7, 2010.
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you may recognize Al & Lisa, a couple whose wedding I shot last May. I recently stumbled upon their wedding video that covered their wedding shoot! Here’s a little view on how how photo sessions with me run.
I’ve asked Paul Conner, the videographer, if I can share this video with you, and he has graciously agreed. If you need videography services, give him a buzz.
For the past week, here in Vancouver, there’s been a huge buzz in our city! The whole world has converged on this city of ours for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. Everywhere you look, there’s flags of all nations, people wearing the colors of their nation. Vancouver, being the host city, the majority of the colors are Canada’s red and white.
Not one to miss out on the action, I took the opportunity to head to downtown Vancouver to shoot some photos! I even had the rare opportunity to shoot some landscape photos. Here are a few of my favorites — enjoy!
