Hello, I’m John Cruz! Thank you for considering me to be your photographer for your special day.
I’m passionate about photography. I remember when I was around 10 years old, my dad bought a film camera: a Minolta Maxxum 7xi. It came with this instructional video that explained all the bells and whistles that the camera had and the beautiful pictures it could make. I remember watching that video over and over trying to figure out all that I could do with it. Then I discovered the darkroom and the thrill of seeing the image that I foresaw in my mind come alive in a form that I could see and touch. It’s been many thousands of photos since then. Some good, some not so good, but all of them have helped me grow and develop my style as a photographer.
I am a documentary style photographer, a style that transforms the role of the photographer from an event recorder to a storyteller. It takes all the elements of a photojournalistic style, candidly capturing people’s emotions, stories, and beauty and, at times, lightly direct the event to enhance the story without changing it.
