John Cruz Photography is now…

Te Amo Photography!

www.teamophotography.com

So here’s the long-awaited post!  If you’ve been keeping track of the suggestions, you may have noticed that the name, Te Amo Photography, was never suggested.  So where did it come from, and why did it get selected?  Well, the suggestion actually came from me…  That doesn’t mean the deck was stacked, though.  I really wanted you to talk me out of using it, not because I don’t like the name, but because maybe…  just maybe…  someone would suggest something so profound, that I would just immediately love it.  Well, as it turns out, the more I thought about it, I realized that I already had the perfect name in front of me!  Te Amo means “I love you,” in Spanish, a language that is exotic, beautiful, and romantic.  That’s really my goal with my photography — to capture my clients’ love for each other in a language that is entirely theirs — exotic, beautiful, and romantic.

So what does that mean for people who made suggestions — does nobody get the prize?  Well, it means good things, actually!  Although nobody wins the prize of a free portrait session, I value your participation, and appreciate that many of you put in some thought to the name(s) that you suggested, so I will be emailing you a special something as a token of my thanks!  Check your email for details.

Again, thanks for all the suggestions!  Stay tuned while the new brand and website is created!  I’m excited about this change and hope you come along with me on this new avenue called, Te Amo Photography!

I was asked to take staff photos by the staff at Greater Vancouver Baptist Church for use with their website and print media.   Here are some of the headshots from this session.

angeli & shaun engagement

Angeli and Shaun are a fun couple whose wedding is coming up in January 2010. I’m looking forward to shooting their wedding because they have quite an interesting theme. I won’t give it away now, of course, but I can tell you that you won’t want to miss seeing their photos come January!

I shot their engagement session earlier this year, but for some reason, I wasn’t able to blog it right away, but I wanted to share these photos with you all!   While most of this shoot was done in Gastown, we just had to get some shots with Shaun’s pocket rocket because, Shaun loves motorbikes, and, of course, Angeli!

This one’s my personal favorite.  It feels almost like a scene from Gone with the Wind!

john cruz photography needs a new name!

Well… As much as I really like my name, it seems to be causing a little bit of confusion with another photographer in this city (who, oddly enough, has the same name as my brother,) Jonathan Cruz. Yes, my parents named me John, and my little brother Jonathan… What can I say, I guess they really like the name!

Because I’m not the type to capitalize on the confusion of potential clients, and because I choose to build my business on the basis of honesty, artistry, and customer satisfaction, I have decided to change my business name. That’s where I need your help! From now until the end of next week (November 13-November 21), I am taking suggestions on potential business names.

If the name you suggest is selected, you will get a FREE one hour, on-location (Metro Vancouver locations only) portrait session, along with a DVD of the finished photos taken, as a token of my thanks!

The catch? You must be in the Metro Vancouver area, or willing to travel here at your expense for the session. Oh, and if your name is selected, you relinquish the right, in perpetuity, to use that name for any of your personal or commercial purposes. That’s it!

To submit your suggestion, use the comments section below, making sure that you provide valid contact information. If I cannot contact you, I can’t award you your prize! You may also submit suggestions via email, my contact form, or on Facebook. You may enter more than one name if you like. You may also enter more than once.

So… Get your creative juices flowing! I’m looking forward to hearing your suggestions!
